Welcome to SASIG

Who We Are

The Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG) is a peer-to-peer network of Federal and contractor personnel actively involved with security awareness. Voluntary members include security personnel at the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), their contractor facilities, and personnel from other agencies.

SASIG members are involved in a diverse range of activities such as: providing input on new policy initiatives; identification of safeguards and security (S&S) issues, solutions, and recommendations regarding policy needs; identification of new technology; and assistance in the development or review of DOE directives.

The annual member workshop provides targeted S&S training, presentations by guest speakers, and opportunities for collaboration.

SASIG Objectives

  • Promote safeguards and security awareness within the Department of Energy.
  • Assist sites/facilities in carrying out S&S Awareness Program requirements.
  • Facilitate communication among members.
  • Establish an outreach mission to other Federal agencies with security awareness interests.
  • Share security awareness resources.
